I'm especially interested to see how they implement the teleports. I'm excited to see some of the alien technology they bring to the game. And adding all of the precursor gun affects was a blast to go through. I had no idea they were under the safe shallows the whole time. For some reason I always thought they were over by the floating island. This last playthrough was my first time in the jellyshroom caves. I didn't get the game until the October update, but I think I've done about a dozen playthroughs at this point. It's fun gradually building up the blueprints and the mats to build everything. Yeah, I really enjoy the beginning best of all. I've been waiting to play the game for a day or two, so I can have something to sink some hours in when I get my Vive today! There are a few biomes that I haven't explored, but I think I'll save them for the next playthrough so I'll have something new to experience. I'm about 50 hours into this game, and have just about finished all of the progression. This first playthrough, I had went in without doing any research of technology or lore - so I didn't know that you could use the thermal vents for energy. In my next playthrough, that will be my preferred location. Usually by the south one, because it's closer to my preferred path to the inactive/active lava zones. Without a fabricator somewhere else it's restart game time.īut I like building my first real base next to one of the thermal vents in the safe shallows, so I've got plenty of energy without having to maintain it. I build the I-corridor base as soon as I can below the lifepod somewhere, because I get concerned the lifepod will disappear on me, as it's done before. “When light hits the zest, it bends a little. X-ray phase contrast imaging clearly shows the differences between the thin layers of zest and pith and how those layers look compared to the thick pulp. Amber had one in her office and, recognizing it’s really just low-density materials, she and her colleagues imaged it to demonstrate their system.Ī conventional X-ray picture of an orange is fuzzy, without detail. The phase contrast image, right, sensitive to the different materials within a sample, shows the changes from one material to another. A dark field image, center, is sensitive to a sample’s microstructure, scattering the X-ray. The absorption image, left, the same as a conventional X-ray image, shows how dense a sample is. “So they don’t know if the gaps are filled with the low-density materials or if that’s air.”ĪN ORANGE illustrates three different images from an X-ray phase contrast imaging system. “You have a dense material mixed in with a low-density material, and traditional X-rays can’t see that low-density material,” Amber says. Other current techniques aren’t sensitive enough to distinguish between materials. Sandia’s technique achieved X-ray phase contrast imaging in a lab without a synchrotron, an expensive piece of equipment the size of a football field. X-ray phase contrast imaging could be used to inspect microfabrication packaging, integrated circuits, or micro-electro-mechanical components and could be used to study ceramics, polymers, chemicals, or explosives. “For low-density materials like plastics, polymers, foams, and other encapsulants, this phase signal can be a thousand times bigger than the absorption signal of conventional X-ray,” says principal investigator Amber Dagel (5228). X-ray phase contrast imaging measures not just the number of X-ray photons that get through the sample, as in conventional X-ray imaging, but also the phase of the X-rays after they pass through, offering a complete look at interfaces inside a structure. And they can’t see the critically important foams and other materials that guard against shock, high voltage breakdown, and thermal stresses in nuclear weapon components. For example, conventional X-rays can’t see a defect called a grafoil in the laminate layers of an airplane wing without removing the protective copper mesh that diffuses energy if lightning hits. The Labs has to be able to spot defects before they might cause a high-consequence failure, because materials don’t perform well with voids or cracks or if they’re separating from adjacent surfaces. Amber is principal investigator for the Labs’ work into using the technique to study low-density materials. RESEARCHER AMBER DAGEL holds a calibration sample to be loaded into Sandia’s X-ray phase contrast imaging machine. Make no mistake: the film is all about Hrithik, an expose of sorts. In that way, Kites is like a really long underwear advertisement, with Mr Roshan our man in briefs. Much of that slow motion is used to focus on our Adonis, Hrithik Roshan - his rippled physique, disarming smile, captivating green eyes and penchant for emotion. The perpetual use of slowmotion is downright obnoxious, and gets worse as the film progresses. And more slow-mo shots than should ever be allowed in one movie. Repetitive, poorly executed action scenes. Basu's gargantuan 130-minute original certainly gave him a lot to prune:Ĭountless close-ups of the hero, J (Hrithik Roshan), lip quivering, eyes welling up with tears. It will be interesting to see how Hollywood filmmaker Brett Ratner ( Rush Hour, X-Man: The Last Stand) handled the 90 minute English "Brett Ratner Remix" of Kites, to release next week. With less theatrics, some ruthless editing and a few tweaks to make the plot crisp and believable, it would be an enjoyable movie. Also, let's be clear, Kites looks amazing, and is very frequently visually arresting. Buried beneath the melodrama is an interesting narrative set in an interesting place. It's sad, because Anurag Basu's long-awaited film clearly has potential. Not even a noteworthy Indian contribution to global cinema. It's tempting to say this of Kites itself, which despite its slick image and incredibly beautiful stars is not what it claims to be. Basically, she's a really, really good-looking fraud. The Nobel Prize for Literature was awarded to him in 1923. October in the same year see his marriage to Georgie Hyde-Lees. At the beginning of 1917, he purchased the Norman stone tower, (Thoor Ballylee) near Coole Park and restored the derelict building into a summer home and a central symbol in some of his later poetry. In 1897 he formed a friendship with Lady Gregory and her estate, Coole Park, became the setting for several of his poems. In 1889 he met his great love, Maud Gonne (1866-1953), who became the subject of his early love poetry, but she was to marry Major John MacBride in 1903, which was the inspiration of his poem, No Second Troy. In Yeats's memoirs, Four Years:1887-1891, Yeats claimed William Watson joined but never came, Frances Thompson came once but did not join, and Oscar Wilde would only attend meetings in private houses. In 1885 Yeats had his first poems published in the Dublin University Review, in 1887 he returned with his family to Chiswick, and 1890 see him along with Ernest Rhys form the Rhymers club, a group of poets who met in Fleet street, London between 1891-1894, the line up at the start included the likes of Richard Le Gallienne, Ernest Dowson, Lionel Johnson, Arthur Symmons, John Davidson, T.W.Rolleston, Selwyn Image and Edwin Ellis. As poetry and as song a number of his poems have been recorded and also used on radio, TV and films.W.B.Yeats was born in Dublin Ireland on 13th June 1865, but moved to Chiswick London in 1867 due to his fathers career as a lawyer and did not return to Ireland until 1881, where he studied at the Metropolitan School of Art, it was here that he met fellow poet George Russell who shared his interest in mysticism. His work has been widely circulated and anthologised. William Butler Yeats is one of Irelands most revered poets and playwrights. Even though the box comes plastered with a million (exaggerated) claims, I do enjoy the serum and find it amazing for soothing and prepping dry skin. I noticed it needed more slip for smooth application (over my flakey areas) and this does the job perfectly. The texture of this is ultra luxurious, it’s silky without the silicone-y feel and absorbs beautifully! I honesty don’t intend to use this in my day to day skincare but instead a primer for dry skin when I use my Westman Atelier Foundation. Not my ideal packaging for skincare since air and impurities can end up in the product causing contamination, but this one is all about ‘Vanity Goals’, pretty packaging that adds to the whole ritual of indulging in expensive skincare and looks good in any boudoir. The Magic Serum is packaged in a luxurious glass bottle, (even the mini!) and comes with a dropper dispenser. Not too bad considering most luxury products of a similar category retail around the same price. As far as minis go this one was shockingly tiny! I only ever wanted to test it out but the size is pretty decent if you have trouble deciding on splurging on the full sized product. Normally long wear setting sprays feel so dehydrating or sticky, and this does not.Īlong with my Setting Spray I ordered the mini Magic Serum. It achieves a perfect balance of keeping makeup in place without sucking all the moisture out of your skin. Both found in skincare that soothes dry skin.īottom line, I do enjoy the product and think is just lovely. Other than that the ingredient list also contains a few other skincare ingredients I enjoy such as Aloe Leaf Juice and Camellia leaf extract. (Glycerin is in the ingredient list which is a known humectant). I like that it also ensures the makeup looking fresh without drying up and locks in the moisture. 16 hours might be a stretch given I live in a hot and humid climate year round, but it’s capabilities of holding makeup in place is pretty impressive. I can’t claim to have seen any blurring effect or ‘shrinking of pores’ but I do love that it seems to control excess oil and prolong the wear of foundation. The overall appearance is that your foundation is now one with the skin. Usually setting sprays always end up so dewy and unless you have dry skin and crave that glow, no one needs their face to be shiny when set. I was expecting more of a ‘glow’ with this product but relieved there’s no oily feel or tackiness. On application there’s no tackiness or dewiness. The mist is fine and delicately fragranced, just enough to signal the brands ‘luxury’ positioning but never lingers. The bigger size is a generous 100ml for ($35) which should last a while though and more value price/ml. It actually comes in 2 sizes and I picked up the larger one (which I regret now as i’d have found the mini more useful in terms of portability). No melting, no fading, no creasing.įirstly, I love the overall aesthetic of the packaging. The Airbrush Flawless Setting Spray promises 16 hour wear of flawlessness. I haven’t been blogging but IG has been updated (infrequently!) and I have been talking about some of the products in this review. I still however feel that life’s little luxuries and some new makeup lighten the mood and therefore happy to share these exciting launches with you. The current situation puts things into perspective doesn’t it? As much as I enjoy luxury beauty, i’ve been keeping things quiet as I don’t think anyone ‘needs’ a new red toned palette or that brand new MLBB lipstick. How have you been doing? The months past Covid outbreak have been a bit crazy. Also, they demanded that he stops criticizing their gods. They offered that if what he brought was better, they will partake of it and share the good, and if the case was opposite, then the Prophet will have to share the goodness. The Quraysh people told the Prophet that they will accept Allah as their god for one year and, in return, the Prophet (PBUH) will have to agree to pray to their gods in the next year. When this did not work out, they proposed another solution. In their attempt to earn the Prophet’s favour, the Quraysh people offered him riches, status, and beautiful women to marry if only he would stop preaching about Allah. It is believed in the Muslim tradition that the Surah of disbelievers was revealed in the city of Makkah when the Quraysh leaders were still trying to gain the support of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Surah Al-Kafirun also hints that even if people are free to believe in any religion that invokes their faith, the truth and falsehood cannot be allowed to mix. They suggest that bargain in matters of faith and religion is not acceptable. The verses inform Muslims how they need to have firm faith in their religion and answer anyone who does not believe in Allah. Surah Al-Kafirun ayats guides people on the appropriate behaviour and right attitude towards people who reject Islam. Nor will you be worshippers of what I worship.įor you is your religion, and for me is my religion.” Surah Al-Kafirun Meaning: Nor will I be a worshipper of what you worship. Nor are you worshippers of what I worship. It says, Surah Al-Kafirun Ayats in Arabic: Surah Al-Kafiroon asks Muslims to remember the distinction between belief and disbelief both in past and present. Like many other chapters in the holy Quran, Surah Al-Kafirun is also in the form of an invocation and guides believers on what they should do or ask aloud to continue walking on the path suggested by the almighty. The Surah of disbelievers that was revealed in the Makkan period features 27 words and 98 letters. The passage warns the followers of Islam against idolatry. It consists of six verses and gets its title from the disbelievers (Al-Kafirun). Surah Al Kafirun is the 109th chapter of this religious text. The spiritual scripture consists of a series of divine messages from the god and is considered the book of guidance for mankind. And, the Quran is said to be a revelation from him. In Islam, Allah is believed to be the one and only true god. That’s where I hope to get one day, and I look at Cube as a mentor now, because I see what he’s done with this film. We can’t expect others to write our stories. That’s what we need more of, the people creating the stories. There are so many different writers and producers behind the scenes who are pushing for us now. KW: It also helps when you have colorblind casting being encouraged by people on the others side of the camera like writer/producers like Shonda Rhimes.ĬH: Yeah, Shonda… and the writer on Gabrielle Union’s show, “Being Mary Jane”, Mara Brock Akil. It was very disciplined, so you know, technically, how to get to where you need to get to. I think Juilliard was a great playground for that, because you could be open to anything. But you need the versatility to be able to do that, and the versatility comes through your training. I hope to break down that barrier and play whatever type of character in whatever genre of picture I’m interested in. It’s getting better, but there’s still that stigma that we can only do one thing. He’s a great guy! And, yes, I am an advocate of what I did as far as training, especially as an African-American in this business. Are you also an advocate of studying acting?ĬH: Definitely! In fact, Ving and I spoke at the premiere, and he was very supportive of me and very positive about the movie. KW: I recently interviewed Ving Rhames, who also graduated from Juilliard. He just wanted me to capture what NWA spoke to in terms of their lyrics and in terms of what they were representing as young black artists coming out of Compton. Because of my training, he was willing to trust the craft. He didn’t want me to stare at him and watch how he moved. He didn’t want me to imitate him or mimic him or do an impersonation. Dre? Did you consult him for pointers?ĬH: I spoke with him every day. I always liked their music and honest music in general. I was a fan of their music because it hit so close to home. KW: What interested you in Straight Outta Compton? Were you a fan of NWA?ĬH: Absolutely! I was definitely a fan of NWA growing up. Dre in Straight Outta Compton, a biopic about the legendary rap group NWA.Ĭorey Hawkins: Awesome, Kam! Awesome! I’m on Cloud 9! Here, he talks about his breakout role playing Dr. The next year, he appeared in Iron Man 3 with Robert Downey, Jr., and in Non-Stop with Liam Neeson the year after that. Born in Washington, DC on October 22, 1988, Corey Hawkins studied acting at Juilliard before making his big screen debut in 2012 opposite Bow Wow in Allegiance. |
